Knicks @ Madison Square Garden

February 6th, 2010

NYU hooks us up with really cheap tickets to all these New Yorker kind of events like Broadway shows and tickets to sporting events and concerts. They were how I was able to go to that Yankees game last year.

While I don’t really consider myself a fan of basketball (in fact, I’m a bigger fan of the Miami Heat than I am of the Knicks) last night I went to a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

First of all, it was just cool being at the Garden. How many amazing people have performed there? Billions? I had also never been inside the actual area. Our NYU orientation was there, but it was in the WaMu theater, not the main arena. I went with my roommate, Dylan, and we actually walked there. That’s how close it is to the dorm. Pretty cool.

Anyway, it was really a lot of fun. The Knicks lost, big surprise, but the arena was packed with fans. I was surprised, but hey, nothing wrong with that. The coolest part though was when they announced that CC Sabathia was at the game and showed him on the big screen. The place ERUPTED. Bigger cheers that the Knicks got all night, lol. I was even wearing my Yankees hoodie so it was all good.

Finally, just a note to anyone planning on going to a Knicks game (or any sporting event in New York City): don’t wear a Red Sox hat, or you will get boo’d out of the stadium ;)

NYU Basketball (lol)

January 23rd, 2010

Sometimes I wish that NYU actually cared about their athletics programs. Here’s my theory: more money toward athletics would give NYU some actual good teams, so we could leave Division III, so people would start caring about the games, so we could actually have some school spirit, which would make the student body happier in general, which means less suicides! Perfect!

I went to the NYU vs. Emory basketball game last night, which was my first NYU sports experience, lol. It was actually pretty cool since I haven’t really cheered on a team for MY school since high school. We lost, but I went to Cooper City so that’s nothing new ;).

The thing about Cooper City though, is that even though we may lose a lot, CCHS has fans. So many fans. The whole freakin’ school shows up to football games. NYU teams don’t have many fans. And we have over 50,000 students. It’s sad.

Throw some money into athletics, NYU!
