Dylan’s Candy Bar & Pinkberry

February 3rd, 2010

My sister was in town this past weekend so we were hittin’ up some of NYC’s tourist destinations when we came across Dylan’s Candy Bar, what Opera calls a “must see destination” (so you know it’s legit).

This place literally has every kind of chocolate and candy you could imagine. With everything from candy bars to chocolate fountains to fill a bag worth of random candy and then weigh it to pay for it, Dylan’s Candy Bar is the place to go for delicious treats (Valentines Day, anyone?). Oh, and speaking of delicious treats, I also had my first Pinkberry experience this weekend!

Pinkberry is exclusively in New York and California (although it’s coming to Miami later this year, isn’t everything?) and I’m not sure but I think it was the start of this whole frozen yogurt craze goin’ down right now. I had never been there before because I didn’t think I’d like frozen yogurt, but after my Menchies & Lutz (which is modeled EXACTLY after Pinkberry, btw) adventures over Winter Break I figured it was time to try it out… and it’s pretty great, not gunna lie (it’s also two blocks from my door, so that’s nice too).

Click on “read more” for some pics inside of Dylan’s.

PS. Pomegranate with chocolate chips, in case you were wondering ;)

Macy’s is HUGE!

January 30th, 2010

My sister is in New York this weekend so we’ve been out doing some touristy things. I’ve been in the Macy’s at Herald Square once before, and sure it was large and all, but I maybe saw an 80th of it. This is THE Macy’s. The Macy’s that the Thanksgiving Parade revolves around. The Macy’s that’s been in New York since 1902. The largest store in the world.

Let me try to break this down for anyone who has never been there.

We walked in. And there were ties. Ties, everywhere. Ties as far as the eye could see. After walking for what felt like a mile, we reached purses. Every brand, and every style you could ever imagine.

Macy’s takes up an entire city block. It’s 11 floors and has four Starbucks. It also has a sit down restaurant, an Antie Anne’s, a McDonalds, a pizza place, a Godiva chocolate shop, and more places to eat. It feels like, and in most respects is, a full on mall.

If you’ve never been, you’ve gotta check this place out.
