It’s official. I’m getting an apartment.

February 24th, 2010

I have some big news.

Starting in September of 2010, I will officially be a resident of New York, and will have a permanent address in Manhattan. In September of 2010, I will be getting an apartment.

IT’S HAPPENING!!!!

I’m sure you have a lot of questions like:
-What kind of apartment?
-Where will it be?
-Will you live by yourself?
-Will you live with roommates?
-When do you move in?

I don’t have answers to any of those questions yet. All I know is that I’m getting an apartment next year in New York City, probably the East Village. Let the search begin.

Apartment?

February 17th, 2010

I live in Gramercy Green right now. The nicest dorm at NYU. How did that happen? Because for some reason, sophomores get first pick of dorms. Seniors get second pick, and Juniors get last, so basically as a Junior next year, I’m screwed. (Freshmen have their own dorms.)

Honestly, I’m so done with dorm living. While I’ve been really lucky and had some really good roommates over the past year and a half, I just don’t like having a roommate. I want my own room… not to mention that as a Junior, I would be thrown in the shi…. um, crappiest dorms that you could ever imagine.

If I want to live on campus next year, I need to put down $1,000 by February 25th. But that’s just it. I don’t want to put that money down because I don’t want to live on campus. I want an apartment. My mom, however, is not feeling this because she thinks it’s going to cost too much money, not be safe, etc. (I can’t insult her on here because I’m pretty sure she reads my blog. Hi, mom.)

I’m having some problems though. Just about all of my best friends are either trying to become an RA, living in NYU housing, or already have plans elsewhere. So where do I live? Who do I live with? Can I get my own room?

All these needs to be figured out by the 25th, even though I can’t start apartment hunting until a month or so before I actually want to move in, which is in September.

Does anyone have any advice for me? =(

UCF’s got class. (Pun totally intended)

January 13th, 2010

Well, my Winter Break doesn’t officially end until January 19th, but yesterday I decided that since I miss school so much (no.), I’d see what a class at UCF is really like. Granted, it was the first day, so this class of 500 kids pretty much consisted of the professor (who was somewhat of a dick) going over the syllabus. But I never have classes that big, nor have I ever been to a class at a Florida college, so it was a crazy experience. (Actually, my phone wasn’t working so it was terrible.)

I also spent a good portion of the day roaming around UCF with Jenny. She showed me some of the secret awesome places around here that nobody seems to know about for some reason. (I literally drained my iPhone battery taking pictures so they’ll all be up on Facebook when I get home.)

Then we went to David’s soccer game. That was…. cold. But good! Because it was all Cooper kids playing, hah. A little hypothermia is good for you anyway.

After the soccer game on the frozen tundra turf fields of UCF, we all headed to what is apparently the place to go for pizza in Orlando: Lazy Moon. They have the biggest pizza slices you’ve ever seen in your life. Exhibit A:

And finally, I ended the day by chilling at Emily & Amanda’s apartment, which I think is incredibly nice. They have almost as much space as David’s house, and four bathrooms?! Come on! Then of course Mandy put me to work grating cheese or whatever, and then a lot of people showed up, and then the fire alarm went off. But it all added to the excitement of the party.

Also, there are insane amounts of hot people at UCF. Did I mention that?

Now I’m packing up to head out of here… but I’m not going South back to tha Coop though, nor am I going North back up to New York. See you in a few hours, Gainesville ;)
