I went to New Jersey… and survived.

March 7th, 2010

Today I did something new. For the first time since I’ve lived in New York, I actually left the state of New York (other than to go to Florida, of course). Today I went to… NEW JERSEY.

Now, as a New Yorker, I’m pretty much, as Lily from How I Met Your Mother so beautifully describes, “programmed to despise and loath New Jersey and all that it stands for.” See this clip:

…but if you’ve seen that whole episode, you know that Marshall really comes to love New Jersey. See this clip:

I hate to say it but, I actually had a little bit of a Marshall moment today. I don’t by any means hate New York (I mean, come on) but Newport, New Jersey has stuff that Manhattan doesn’t! Like TARGET. I love Target, but what do we have here? K-Mart. Who shops at K-Mart?

And everything is so much cheaper! I got 10 pairs of socks for $10 and sales tax is only 3.5%!! It’s 6% in the FtL, 7% in Miami, and 8.875% in NYC!

There was also this ridiculous mall called Newport Centre that was big and spacious. Just ask Marshall, big and spacious doesn’t exist in Manhattan.

But hey, just because Jersey City (Newport) is nice doesn’t mean I can’t hate the rest of the state. You won’t find me in Newark anytime soon. NYC ALL THE WAY ;)

Downtown Otown & Youth in Revolt

January 11th, 2010

Wasssssuppp Orlando!?

I’m hanging out here at UCF for a few days staying at David, Lee, Jack & Kim’s house (yes, HOUSE — freakin awesome) aka the Scottafouchenathanberg household. (More on that in an upcoming post.)

We went to go see Youth In Revolt tonight in downtown Orlando, and while I’ve been to UCF plenty of times, tonight was my first time ever going downtown. It has a very New York kind of feel to it just on a much smaller scale, with much less people. Still, it was really nice and this was seriously the sickest movie theater I’ve ever been in. It has, as David likes to describe, “first-class airplane seats” and a full bar… not to mention tickets are only FIVE DOLLARS. A movie costs $12.50 in NYC.

As for the movie, it was good. Not amazing or anything, but good. I’d recommend it.

Finally, I just want to say thanks to everyone who has joined the deandagati.com Facebook fan page! It’s only two days old and already has over 250 members! If this is your first time here, check the post below this one for a little more on what this site is about.

PS. David has a new blog that you should check out: http://davidn31.blogspot.com/

NEW T-SHIRTS! LOWER PRICES!

December 28th, 2009

When I made the first deandagati.com t-shirt, it was just for me, I really didn’t expect anybody else to want one. Since then, I’ve had so many requests for deandagati.com t-shirts and so much participation in my t-shirt contests, all of which I really appreciate and I wish I could get a t-shirt for everyone. This is a step in the right direction.

I’ve switched t-shirt companies from CafePress to SpreadShirt, which allows me to offer you more choices, colors, and best of all, LOWER PRICES. You can now get a standard deandagati.com t-shirt for only $15 and if you want it to be an American Apperal brand shirt, you can get it for only $18! Also! I now have kids sizes since I happen to know a lot of very small people ;) Kids size shirts are only $11.

In the process of switching companies, I also decided to redesign the shirt. I like it a lot better now, so I hope you do too. (To anybody who has the original — you now have the “collectors edition!”)

I can’t buy any more shirts for people because I’m legit out of money, but hopefully the lower prices will help you grab one on your own! For those of you who still can’t buy one, I’m going to have one more t-shirt contest with the new shirt design soon.
