YANKEES! (w/ video)

April 16th, 2010

(Yeah, I’ve basically replaced my regular camera with Hipstamatic.)

I’m so happy that it’s baseball season again.

Last night, I went to a Yankees game against the Angels as part of their Home Opening Series. When we got there, it was t-shirt weather, but by the time we left it was 12-layer winter weather & pouring rain. I guess we were lucky that we got the tickets through NYU and were given the worst seats in the house because we were so far back that we were covered and didn’t get rained on.

None the less, saw my second in-person Jeter home run and the Yankees won 6-2.

Here’s a video of the fans in the Grandstands trying to get a wave to go around the entire stadium:

SnowSnowSnowSnowSnowSnow (Poll)

February 26th, 2010

This morning, I woke up to a phone call at 7:00am. Normally, I hate when phone calls wake me up since they are usually a recorded message telling me I’ve won a free 3-day, 4-night all-inclusive trip to the Orlando resort area, but this time was different. This time, it was a call from NYU alerting me that all classes today have been cancelled and that the University is closed. SNOW DAY NUMBER 2!

I was supposed to work today, though. I kind of wanted the hours since I only get 4 a week, but whatever.

It’s still snowing outside. We’ve gotten over 20 inches so far, which is ridiculous. All kinds of record breaking.

Here are some pics I took today and yesterday. I didn’t go out in it this time. I’m ready for Spring, yo. Click for full size.

Have you ever had a snow day?

NEW VIDEO: My First Snow Day!

February 12th, 2010

Well if you haven’t seen it already, my new video has been posted over in the originals section.

It features me, running around with my camera in Wednesday’s blizzard… it also features clips from my favorite weather guy, Lonnie Quinn from CBS2 (remember him from NBC6 in Miami back in the day, you Floridians?).

Click here to watch it (Lonnie did!).

And speaking of being cold, deandagati.com hoodies are now available!

UCF’s got class. (Pun totally intended)

January 13th, 2010

Well, my Winter Break doesn’t officially end until January 19th, but yesterday I decided that since I miss school so much (no.), I’d see what a class at UCF is really like. Granted, it was the first day, so this class of 500 kids pretty much consisted of the professor (who was somewhat of a dick) going over the syllabus. But I never have classes that big, nor have I ever been to a class at a Florida college, so it was a crazy experience. (Actually, my phone wasn’t working so it was terrible.)

I also spent a good portion of the day roaming around UCF with Jenny. She showed me some of the secret awesome places around here that nobody seems to know about for some reason. (I literally drained my iPhone battery taking pictures so they’ll all be up on Facebook when I get home.)

Then we went to David’s soccer game. That was…. cold. But good! Because it was all Cooper kids playing, hah. A little hypothermia is good for you anyway.

After the soccer game on the frozen tundra turf fields of UCF, we all headed to what is apparently the place to go for pizza in Orlando: Lazy Moon. They have the biggest pizza slices you’ve ever seen in your life. Exhibit A:

And finally, I ended the day by chilling at Emily & Amanda’s apartment, which I think is incredibly nice. They have almost as much space as David’s house, and four bathrooms?! Come on! Then of course Mandy put me to work grating cheese or whatever, and then a lot of people showed up, and then the fire alarm went off. But it all added to the excitement of the party.

Also, there are insane amounts of hot people at UCF. Did I mention that?

Now I’m packing up to head out of here… but I’m not going South back to tha Coop though, nor am I going North back up to New York. See you in a few hours, Gainesville ;)

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart …LIVE

December 19th, 2009

Mail Attachment

This past week has been beyond busy. With school and finals and packing and doing paperwork for my new job and getting my computer fixed and finishing final projects and using up my meal plan and David visiting, I haven’t had too much time to do things like update my blog or … sleep.

The highlight of this past week though is without a doubt when David and I went to see a taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Granted, the waiting outside in 20 degree temperatures for two hours wasn’t fun (UnderArmor + T-Shirt + Jeans + Hoodie + Coat + Blanket helped) but the studio was insane, and Jon Stewart is even funnier in person. He hangs out with the crowd before and after the show, and Hugh Grant was the guest!

David and I were excited to watch it later on TV in this clearly unstaged picture (photo cred Anna Cincera):

Anyways, I’m back home in the Coop now for a month! What’s up 954!?

1700’s walk it out!

December 12th, 2009

FDNY

It’s Thursday night, and I go to sleep at around midnight with full intentions of finally getting a good night sleep. But of course that could never happen because at 1am the fire alarm goes of. Now, as we all know, I have some prior experience with fire alarm evacuations, but I live on the 17th floor, not to mention that it was 20 degrees outside, so this particular evacuation was nothing to rap about.

My first inclination was to just not go, but the last time I didn’t evacuate in the middle of the night, there turned out to be a real electrical fire. So, my roommate and I decided it would probably be a good idea to leave. We got up, got dressed, and slowly made our way down 17 flights of stairs along with 1,000 other Gramercy college kids, and then stood outside in the cold for about 15 minutes as the FDNY came, discovered that there was no fire, and left. We then waited another 15-20 minutes in the elevator line, trying to get back up to 17.

Eventually, we made it back, and were finally able to go to sleep… that is, until 8am… WHEN THE FIRE ALARM WENT OFF.

My first reaction: “WTFFMLKFSJHGFLDSGHDFJ!”

So we didn’t leave. FTS.
If my RA ever reads this, I’m just kidding, we actually did leave, so don’t write us up.

PS. We didn’t leave ;)

A chill December (pun totally intended).

December 9th, 2009

One year ago.

One year ago I was still in the Liberal Studies Program.

One year ago I was taking Cultural Foundations and Environmental Science.

One year ago I was failing tests and writing 10-page papers until my brain exploded.

One year ago my computer crashed and I lost my final paper for Social Foundations.

One year ago I literally went from taking a test, to getting on board a plane, to flying to Florida only to start my winter break by re-writing a paper that I had already written but lost.

But that was a year ago.

Now I’m in Tisch and spend my days doing work that actually interests me, but best of all, it’s all over. Sight & Sound Studio is done. Dramatic & Visual Writing is done. I just have one final to take, one project to do, and I’m home free for Winter Break.

David is coming to NYC next week, and it’s going to be COLD. In fact, it already is cold. 30’s and 40’s mostly, which to Floridians sounds pretty great, but it actually sucks a lot. Especially when I have to walk 20 blocks to class in it.

Easy work? Cold temps? It’s a pretty chill December.
