This morning, I woke up to a phone call at 7:00am. Normally, I hate when phone calls wake me up since they are usually a recorded message telling me I’ve won a free 3-day, 4-night all-inclusive trip to the Orlando resort area, but this time was different. This time, it was a call from NYU alerting me that all classes today have been cancelled and that the University is closed. SNOW DAY NUMBER 2!
I was supposed to work today, though. I kind of wanted the hours since I only get 4 a week, but whatever.
It’s still snowing outside. We’ve gotten over 20 inches so far, which is ridiculous. All kinds of record breaking.
Here are some pics I took today and yesterday. I didn’t go out in it this time. I’m ready for Spring, yo. Click for full size.
Well if you haven’t seen it already, my new video has been posted over in the originals section.
It features me, running around with my camera in Wednesday’s blizzard… it also features clips from my favorite weather guy, Lonnie Quinn from CBS2 (remember him from NBC6 in Miami back in the day, you Floridians?).
I grew up in Florida, so I grew up with hurricane days. While hurricane days were nice because we got a few days off of school, what was I supposed to do go play in the puddles electrified from down power lines? Not to mention power outages & major structural damage…
Today, was my first ever SNOW DAY! The last time that NYU actually cancelled school for snow was in 1998, so this is an extremely rare occurrence. Last year we had a blizzard that I actually did go to class in — never again.
I went to Madison Square Park today (pictured above) where people of all ages were out building snowmen, and chillin in the 10+ inches of snow. I even made my own mini snowman:
It’s still snowing out there… is it possible that school could be cancelled tomorrow too? Probably not, but I can dream.
