You know what I hate more than NYU cable? Internet rants like this one. But I have to do it… just this once. I’m sorry.

Dear NYU Campus Cable,

You are the worst TV provider in the history of television.

Last year, you gave me 66 analog channels. Analog? It’s not 1985 anymore dude, get with it. All of the channels come in fuzzy and stretched because I, unlike you, live in the now and have a widescreen HDTV.

This year, you thought you were making yourself awesome by adding 6 digital, HD channels. First of all, 6? That’s not very impressive, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. But oh wait — I can’t get them. My TV says “NO SIGNAL” on those channels more often than they actually come in. I get my HD channels via antenna. ANTENNA. This is what you’re making me resort to… and my antenna is somehow more reliable than your cable services.

Oh and hey, thanks for NOT giving us YES, the Yankees station. I only live in the heart of New York City, why would I want to watch the reigning World Series champions? You give us the Mets station, of course. Because everybody watches the Mets and all. Oh, and you know what’s even better? How when the Yankees games are on national stations like ESPN or TBS, but are then BLACKED OUT IN NYC to force New York viewers to watch on the Yankees channel — but oh wait, we don’t get that channel…. just like the other hundred basic cable channels we don’t get…

Hey remember when Jay-Z performed a benefit concert that was broadcast live from Madison Square Garden? Of course you don’t, because we don’t get Fuse. Hey remember when you wanted to know if you should bring an umbrella to work but the regular news wasn’t on? You got wet didn’t you? Because we don’t get NY1. Hey remember that time Vince hooked up with some hot girl on every single episode of Entourage? Of course you don’t, because we don’t get HBO.

So when you, Mr. NYU Cable Executive, go to your lovely home in Westchester tonight and turn on your 873 channels of HD on DirecTV, think about us, the probably-going-to-work-in-the-TV-industry-but-can’t-even-watch-decent-TV-in-my-dorm-because-of-you students.

I’m getting an apartment next year so that I can get a decent cable provider like Time Warner.

I hate you.

I’ve previously discussed my disapproval of Leno stealing The Tonight Show back from Conan, so I havent been watching it anymore, but recently The Tonight Show partnered with NYU for Jay Leno’s Short Film contest. It basically involved making a 90 second or less short film in an extremely short period of time with some crappy little Flip camera. No professional equipment.

I didn’t actually know about this contest and therefore didn’t enter, but other kids did (apparently) and the top 3 films were not only shown on The Tonight Show last Wednesday (been meaning to post this for like a week…), but their creators were flown to LA so that they could be on the show.

Sick? Yes. Watch:

I took that picture this morning in my neighbor’s front yard, when these four random cows came strolling down the street. I’m still not sure how they got out or where they came from, but when I filmed them and sent the video to channel 7, they aired it! (Must have been a slow news day…)

How insane were the Grammys last night!?

I’m not really to into award shows, in general. They are extremely long and incredibly boring. Sure, I’ve seen a few MTV award shows in my day… I was watching when Kanye didn’t let Taylor finish. But the bigger shows like the Oscars and the Grammys and whatever other 9,000 award shows there are don’t usually interest me.

It was my roommate who said “Aren’t the Grammys on tonight?” that even made me turn on the TV, and I’m glad I did because that show was SICK. Did they even give out any awards? I think I saw like two. The performances made the show by far. Let’s do a poll! (lol, these are fun.)

Also, just for the record. I’m HAPPY freakin’ Lady Gaga didn’t win album of the year. There was some uproar about it on Facebook last night. I believe Taylor Slingerland told me to “go die in a ditch we arent friends anymore” when I shared my opinion with him. But even though Gaga went to NYU, she’s creepy and I hate her. Go t-swizzle.

NBC is such a terrible company.

Jay Leno was great at 11:30, Conan O’Brien was great at 12:30, and Jimmy Fallon was great never having a show whatsoever… but then they went and screwed that up.

I’ve always been a Jay Leno fan, but 11:30 is Conan’s time slot now, and Leno has no right to take it back. I’m with CoCo.

This past week has been beyond busy. With school and finals and packing and doing paperwork for my new job and getting my computer fixed and finishing final projects and using up my meal plan and David visiting, I haven’t had too much time to do things like update my blog or … sleep.

The highlight of this past week though is without a doubt when David and I went to see a taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Granted, the waiting outside in 20 degree temperatures for two hours wasn’t fun (UnderArmor + T-Shirt + Jeans + Hoodie + Coat + Blanket helped) but the studio was insane, and Jon Stewart is even funnier in person. He hangs out with the crowd before and after the show, and Hugh Grant was the guest!

David and I were excited to watch it later on TV in this clearly unstaged picture (photo cred Anna Cincera):

So we made some change to our Comcast account or something this week and the new package includes FREE HBO! Sickest thing ever because my parents don’t think premium channels are worth it… so we’ve never had them… UNTIL NOW! And it’s not even just the one channel either! It’s HBO, HBO2, HBO Signature, HBO Family, HBO Comedy, HBO Zone, and HBO Latina! Ballerrrrrr. (I feel like this post is written in a very Amanda Katz style. “Sickest” and “Baller” are total a.Katz words.)

Anyway, tonight I watched my first episode of Entourage ever and oh my god is that show good! (Definitely better than a certain Monday nights at 8 show…) Tonight’s was the 3rd episode of season 6, so after I watched it I went and watched episodes 1 & 2 online. (So good!) Now I just need to see seasons 1-5, haha. Too bad I’m going back to New York in a month and will have to go HBO-less again…

PS. And did I mention HBO On Demand!?!? AHH!

I kind of didn’t watch to watch Demitri Martin’s new show despite the fact that I think he’s hilarious because it was shot in New York City and I was supposed to go to the taping but then the company screwed us over and we didn’t get to go… but I watched it anyway and it was totally worth it haha. So funny. Try to find it on YouTube before they take it off for copyright violation, lol.

New episodes are on Comedy Central on Wednesdays @ 10:30PM.
