YANKEES! (w/ video)

April 16th, 2010

(Yeah, I’ve basically replaced my regular camera with Hipstamatic.)

I’m so happy that it’s baseball season again.

Last night, I went to a Yankees game against the Angels as part of their Home Opening Series. When we got there, it was t-shirt weather, but by the time we left it was 12-layer winter weather & pouring rain. I guess we were lucky that we got the tickets through NYU and were given the worst seats in the house because we were so far back that we were covered and didn’t get rained on.

None the less, saw my second in-person Jeter home run and the Yankees won 6-2.

Here’s a video of the fans in the Grandstands trying to get a wave to go around the entire stadium:

I hate you, NYU Campus Cable.

April 11th, 2010

You know what I hate more than NYU cable? Internet rants like this one. But I have to do it… just this once. I’m sorry.

Dear NYU Campus Cable,

You are the worst TV provider in the history of television.

Last year, you gave me 66 analog channels. Analog? It’s not 1985 anymore dude, get with it. All of the channels come in fuzzy and stretched because I, unlike you, live in the now and have a widescreen HDTV.

This year, you thought you were making yourself awesome by adding 6 digital, HD channels. First of all, 6? That’s not very impressive, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. But oh wait — I can’t get them. My TV says “NO SIGNAL” on those channels more often than they actually come in. I get my HD channels via antenna. ANTENNA. This is what you’re making me resort to… and my antenna is somehow more reliable than your cable services.

Oh and hey, thanks for NOT giving us YES, the Yankees station. I only live in the heart of New York City, why would I want to watch the reigning World Series champions? You give us the Mets station, of course. Because everybody watches the Mets and all. Oh, and you know what’s even better? How when the Yankees games are on national stations like ESPN or TBS, but are then BLACKED OUT IN NYC to force New York viewers to watch on the Yankees channel — but oh wait, we don’t get that channel…. just like the other hundred basic cable channels we don’t get…

Hey remember when Jay-Z performed a benefit concert that was broadcast live from Madison Square Garden? Of course you don’t, because we don’t get Fuse. Hey remember when you wanted to know if you should bring an umbrella to work but the regular news wasn’t on? You got wet didn’t you? Because we don’t get NY1. Hey remember that time Vince hooked up with some hot girl on every single episode of Entourage? Of course you don’t, because we don’t get HBO.

So when you, Mr. NYU Cable Executive, go to your lovely home in Westchester tonight and turn on your 873 channels of HD on DirecTV, think about us, the probably-going-to-work-in-the-TV-industry-but-can’t-even-watch-decent-TV-in-my-dorm-because-of-you students.

I’m getting an apartment next year so that I can get a decent cable provider like Time Warner.

I hate you.

Sincerely,
Dean D’Agati

World Series Watch Party @ YANKEE STADIUM!

November 3rd, 2009

IMG_0887

As you all know (since I won’t shut up about it), the Yankees are in the World Series against the Phillies. Well, this past Sunday night was Game 4, which was played in Philadelphia, but they opened up Yankee Stadium for Yankee fans to come and watch the game on the big screen!

Tons of people showed up, and the best part was: IT WAS FREE!

…Actually, the best part is that the Yankees had an amazing win in the 9th. They are now up 3-2 in the series and are coming back to New York to play game 6 tomorrow night.

Go Yanks!

PS. My roommate and I were on the jumbotron! Sweeeeeet.

Last night was Halloween.

Last night was also “lets see how much rain New York City can produce in one night” night.

So I stayed in and watched the Yankees win Game 3.
…Still pretty fun.

And hey, I live in New York. Everyday is Halloween ;)

Yankees are going to the World Series!!

October 26th, 2009

Last night, the Yankees beat the Angels one last time here in NYC which means we’re going on to face the Phillies in the World Series!

As much I would love to go to one of the games, the cheapest price I can get for a ticket is $392 …and that’s in the nosebleed section… so I don’t think I’ll be attending the World Series this year =(

Now, obviously the Yankees are going to win, but what I’m looking forward to even more than the games themselves, is shoving it in ANGELA ROBLEDO’S FACE!

Go Yankees ;)

My first Yankee game!

October 1st, 2009

IMG_2059

I’m officially a New Yorker.

As you probably know, I’ve become a pretty big Yankees fan this season, and last night went to my first Yankee game at the new Yankee Stadium! Not that I’ve ever been to the old stadium or anything, but let me just say that the new stadium is BEAUTIFUL. One of the coolest buildings ever.

I got the tickets through NYU, so they were really cheap, but pretty much the worst in the house. The only problem I had with sitting in the nosebleeds though wasn’t that it was a bad view (because it wasn’t!) but that it gets SO cold up there! It was 56 degrees on the ground, which is bareable if you got layers, but up that high in the grandstands the wind whips so hard that I’m pretty sure I came close to legit hypothermia.

The Yanks ended up loosing to the Kansas City Royals. Yeah. Seriously. But we’ve already won the division title so next few games don’t even matter for us.

Either way, fun night.

Remember going to Marlins games? In like… 3rd grade? Back when people actually went to Marlins games? It’s really sad that nobody cares about the Marlins anymore — me included. I mean, I follow them a little bit, but now I’m a total Yankee fan. HOWEVER, my dad got tickets from his office to sit 8 rows behind the plate, and we actually went to the game last night. Did anybody see it? It was a great game. The pitcher hit a 3-run homer, the Atlanta coach got thrown out of the game, and we won! 6-3! Look at the stadium though. Hardly anybody there. Hopefully more people will go when the new stadium is built. Check out video from my iPhone of the coach getting thrown out ;)

GO MARLINS (and Yankees)!

That hoe from California isn’t paying.

July 11th, 2009

Hi
I am sorry to say this, my amount is got struck with some other deal , hence I couldn’t able to make payment to you . You can please cancel the iPhone bid for me.

My sincere appologies for you . Extremly sorry .

Thank you
Hema

Seriously? “My account is got struck” Who talks like that!? Hoes from California—that’s who. So Alyssa is on her way there to take care of business for me while I’m here in the Coop relisting my phone on eBay and watching the Yankees on FOX. This was so much easier last year. That guy from the Netherlands was so nice! At least the Yankees are on though… they never show Yankees games down here without that million dollar MLB package from Comcast.

PS. If you have no idea wtf I’m talking about, read the post underneath this one.
