And it ends here.

April 23rd, 2010

It was just a couple of days ago that I posted about the major changes coming to deandagati.com. I said how it’s going to become more integrated with social networks: that the blog will now be through Tumblr and the videos now through YouTube. While all of that was true, there was also something in the post that was a flat out lie. I said that this is going to be a summer project, that nothing is changing yet. Well, here we are, five days later, and this WordPress blog has already come to an end.

It was a pretty unexpected change, but the new site is so much better than the old one, and much easier to keep up with, so you should definitely check it out at deandagati.com.

The loss of this blog is not all bad, because I’m not taking any of the content posted here offline. All 200+ posts will stick around in their entirety, comments still activated, videos still playable, and pictures still… there. In the move over to Tumblr, I didn’t have the option to bring posts from another blog in, but I didn’t want to delete them all together — a lot of my life is on this site. So everything stays.

The best news of all though, is even though this blog is ending, another one is just beginning.

THE BLOG CONTINUES: http://blog.deandagati.com

Peace out, WordPress.

Who uses Tumblr?

April 18th, 2010

Deandagati.com is about to expire, so I renewed it for two more years, but this website has always been faced with a problem.

For some reason, I’ve always wanted deandagati.com to be completely self contained. All blog posts, videos, pictures, contests, whatever, are posted here, and solely here. Yeah, maybe there would be a link on Facebook, but there is really no way to see aspects of the site unless you physically go to deandagati.com.

Well that’s just stupid.

This summer, deandagati.com is going to be completely overhauled. The site isn’t going to look or work at all like it does now. While I’ve been really impressed at the amount of hits and support I get under it’s current platform (I love you all), the site’s going to be implemented with social networking websites so that posts can be found and shared elsewhere, further promoting the site, and hopefully getting more visitors.

All blog posts will be through Tumblr.

All videos will be through YouTube.

Links to everything will be found on the Facebook fan page.

You’ll be able to subscribe/follow/fan on all three sites.

As for right now, however, nothing is changing. So keep hitting up deandagati.com like you’ve always done, and I’ll try to keep you entertained with my ramblings and stupid videos.

Late.

UPDATE ::: Turns out Tumblr is even cooler & easier than I thought. This change is going to happen sooner than originally planned.

YouTube Acoustic Covers

March 25th, 2010

I’ve never been that into YouTube. Sure, I appreciate a good fight or fail now and then, but I’m not the kind of person who can sit around on YouTube all day.

If there is one thing I love about YouTube, however, it’s the acoustic covers of songs that regular people from all around the country sing better than the actual songs themselves.

Everything from simple, singing a popular song into a webcam like this:

to rewritten songs with some serious production value like this:

Those are just two that I came across yesterday, but if you ever see an awesome YouTube cover, send it to me, or post it in the comments!

The first video is by 20-year-old Alyssa Bernal from San Antonio, Texas. Her channel is youtube.com/hchsknights08, has over 250,000 subscribers and seriously posts some of the best webcam covers I’ve seen on YouTube. She even has her first album coming out thanks to her YouTube success sometime this year (I think?).

The second is by 17-year-old Tiffany Alvord from California. Her channel is youtube.com/TiffanyAlvord but this video was actually shot here in New York in collaboration with Kurt Schneider for his channel, youtube.com/KurtHugoSchneider. T-Sling actually showed me Kurt’s channel and he posts professionally produced videos of everything from song covers, to musicals, to medleys like this one with his friends at Yale University.

I don’t actually know these people like I’m pretending to right now, but their music is amazing.
Granted the attractiveness of these girls might be swaying my opinion slightly, but a combined 380,000 subscribers plus another 125,000 for Kurt doesn’t lie ;)

United State of Pop 2009

January 5th, 2010

This has been all over Facebook lately so you’ve probably already seen it, but I think that it’s so great that I wanted to post it here too.

There’s this guy, DJ Earworm (interesting name…), who took the top 25 Billboard songs in the US of 2009 and combined them into one, incredible four and a half minute song. It’s beyond awesome, so if you haven’t seen it yet, check it out below:

Auto-Tune The News!

June 22nd, 2009

I don’t usually post YouTube videos, but this is honestly one of the greatest, most hilarious, catchiest things I’ve seen online in a long time. Seriously, I want to work with these kids some day. (They live in NYC–represent!!) You know how T-Pain uses Auto-Tuner to make his voice sound the way it does? Well what happens if you use that same effect on newscasters? This:

This is the fifth song they’ve made… so if you liked it, check out their YouTube page here.
